It is quite amusing to see former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was unsuccessful in holding the position of President and stepped away from politics, continuously attempting to make a comeback,  SLPP MP S.M. Chandrasena said.  

Addressing the media, he said he did not think that the former President would fall into that situation. If he is an ordinary person, he will not fall into that situation again, he added.  
“Almost 6.9 million people in the country have expressed their full support for the SLPP and other political parties in their efforts to bring Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the President’s seat. The support of such a large portion of the population speaks volumes about the impact he has made and the faith people have on his leadership,” he said.  

“One admirable quality of the former President is his ability to effectively suppress the rebellion in the country, thus preventing further loss of life.  

Thoughtfully, he chose to step away from office while ensuring the safety of the people. It is important to recognize and appreciate positive aspects even when discussing political figures,” MP Chandrasena said.  

But we do not understand the journey that he has to take after leaving and returning to this political structure, he said.
