mning unreservedly the hurling of eggs and shouting filth before the SJB head office at Kotte on Monday by a group led by SLPP Colombo District parliamentarian Madura Withanage, cabinet spokesman, Mass Media Minister Alahapperuma yesterday said he personally or the government at large would not condone this kind of primitive behaviour by any one and by a lawmaker in particular.

‘We as a government, will not hesitate to say ‘no’ to any bad act and ‘’yes’ to any good deed, he added.

Addressing the weekly post cabinet news briefing yesterday, Minister Alahapperuma noted that two hooligans who had thrown eggs at the vehicle of JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake at Gampaha had been arrested and produced before courts.

The government will also have to take the blame if the police failed to apprehend any suspects involved in these attacks, he stressed.

Responding to Daily Mirror, Minister Alahapperuma said however, the government could not absolve itself from the allegation that the government was behind the attacks in recent times on the residence of Hiru TV’s senior journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama, or the vehicle of Mr. Dissanayake and on the SJB office as long as all perpetrators involved are arrested and produced before the law.
