Govt. can go ahead as things stand at the moment-PM tells DM

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday the government can press ahead without any problem as things stand at the moment.


The Prime Minister told Daily Mirror the government had the required number behind it, but did not specify it.

“We can move ahead as things stand at the moment,” he said in response to the question about the current status of the government.


Public protests and demonstrations take place in different places urging the government to step down. The Prime Minister was optimistic that the current problems could be resolved soon.


Meanwhile, the ruling party’s parliamentary group passed a resolution pledging support to the government.
