The Government should resolve the salary issues before reopening the schools, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene said.   

Mr. Wijewardene who made a special statement said that it will not be possible to provide education effectively to children in a situation where teachers have kept away from on-line teaching.   

“The Government should not try to resolve issues by raising voices and using psychical strength, but only through intelligent thinking,” Mr. Wijewardene said.  

The ‘Yahapalanaya government’ increased the salaries of the teachers by Rs. 10,000 and made plans to resolve their salary issues in the year 2020. We prepared relevant documents to resolve this issue, but could proceed with it as our party was defeated in 2019,” he said.
