• The Government will not be able to put things right by imposing an emergency despite enjoying overwhelming powers

Government should show effective results of the emergency within a week by stabilising the distribution of essential goods, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene said yesterday.  

" Government will not be able to put things right by imposing an emergency despite enjoying overwhelming powers, Mr. Wijewardene said in a zoom meeting last afternoon. 

" The government has already enjoyed the power to the maximum and cannot gain more powers by imposing emergency. It will not be able to put the blame on the others if it fails to stabilize the nation now," he added. 
" Imposition of Emergency has been proved to be a failure," he said.
