The Education Ministry decided to re-consider candidates’ cut off marks released for the admission of students to top schools, based on the 2020 Grade five scholarship examination, following protests by parents that cut-off points were higher than usual, an official said.
Ministry Secretary Professor Kapila Perera yesterday said that parents protested earlier saying they were disappointed with the recent Grade five scholarship examination cut off marks. Therefore, the decision was taken following requests made by parents, he said.
Accordingly, the cut off marks will be revised soon to enrol more students to schools, Professor Perera added.
