In light of this unprecedented time of crisis, Sri Lanka must focus on identifying, setting out and implementing a new development pathway with green recovery and green development principles embedded within it, Power Minister Dulles Alahapperuma said.  

 While Covid-19 has captured the world’s attention, pre-existing crises continue. He said 2020 was recorded to be another record-breaking year for climate change.    Addressing the ‘Colombo Development Dialogue’, Minister Alahapperuma went onto say that ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor’ policy framework highlights the need to establish a green economy.   

 President Gotabaya Rajapaksa recently appointed a 46-member task force “to transform Sri Lanka to a green economy,” Minister Alahapperuma stressed.   

   “I am pleased to note the presence of the development partners and private sector representation today who play a large role in green transformation for development. I look forward to collaborating with all of you on a single platform and taking this initiative forward. I welcome UNDP, the private sector, civil society, academia, and others to come together and join this dialogue,’ Minister Alahapperuma emphasised.
