Hatch Cover crushes truck at Colombo Port: driver injured

A container truck driver was injured when a hatch cover fell on the truck at the Colombo Port yesterday morning, an official at the Port said.   
He said the accident occurred while carrying out operations in the Jayabahalu Terminal early yesterday at 1.20 a.m.   


The hatch cover of the ship was accidentally released from the Overhead Gantry Crane when lifting it into the ship, the official said.   
He said the container truck was badly damaged, and the driver was admitted to hospital with injuries.   


“However, soon after the accident, the area was cleared and operations resumed,” the official said.
