The principal of Hatton Tamil Maha Vidyalaya had reopened the school yesterday for G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level classes, although the government had taken steps only to do so for primary classes.

However, Hatton Police that visited the scene in response to a complaint received through the police emergency service 119 warned the principal and sent the students home.

Representatives of teacher trade unions said about 40 ordinary level students and about 15 Advanced Level students had attended school on information of the principal.

Meanwhile, the Principal of the school Radha Krishnan said he called the students to school only to create awareness on the vaccination programme. He said several Ordinary Level students had accompanied the primary section students to school, but they did not attend any academic activities.
