• There is political motive behind the ongoing strike action

While saying that there is a political motive behind the ongoing strike action by health workers, the Health Ministry highly condemned the strike action. 

Speaking to Daily Mirror, Dr. Wijesuriya, Deputy Director General of Medical Services said it was indeed unfair to go on strike in a situation of this nature where COVID-19 situation is getting worse in the country.

“Their demands cannot also be met at this point where Sri Lanka is struggling to overcome the economic crisis. However, we are open for discussions,” he stated.
