Health risk forces activity restrictions at Galle Prison

An inmate has succumbed to Meningitis (brain fever) at the Galle Prison, forcing authorities to restrict various activities within the facility for a period of one week.

Following health guidelines, prison authorities have implemented restrictions on activities within Galle Prison.
Prison Health Services Director Dr. Hemantha Ranasinghe confirmed the death, attributing it to meningitis, commonly known as brain fever. 

Furthermore, Dr. Ranasinghe disclosed that three more inmates have been admitted to Karapitiya Hospital for further treatment after exhibiting symptoms of meningitis. 

Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and extent of the outbreak, with immediate measures being taken to contain and manage the situation effectively, Dr Ranasinghe added.
