Heavy rains experienced in the Western slopes in the up-county hills have endangered several areas with earth-slips, Asst.Director of the Nuwara Eliya Disaster Management Unit Ranjith Alahakoon said.

He said the highways and bi-roads in the up-county could become obstructed with mounds of earth and warned the drivers along the Hatton- Colombo, and Hatton- Nuwara Eliya highways to be cautious of possible earth slips. He requested them not to park the vehicles in location of possible danger.  Meanwhile. the Hatton-Gaminipura Road had been obstructed by a mound of earth.
