An Indian national was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department’s Katunayake unit for a fraud of over USD 300,000, while he was trying to go overseas through the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Police said a complaint had been lodged with the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the CID that the Indian national had defrauded USD 300,678 by promising to provide a housing unit at an apartment complex located in Slave Island.
