Indian posing as journalist arrested with drugs worth over Rs11mn

An Indian national pretending to be a journalist for a human rights organization in Sri Lanka had been arrested with drugs worth over Rs.11 million yesterday.   

The Colombo (North) Crime Division had arrested the suspect while travelling in a luxury car in the Kotahena area.  Police recovered 8.5 kilos of Hashish and 500 grams of Ice.  


Investigations revealed that the suspect was a major drug smuggler who had smuggled various narcotics from India and distributed them throughout Colombo.  


The racket was carried out using ID cards of a human rights organisation and government media.  
Police said the suspect will be detained after being produced before the court.
