Interim budget passed with majority of 115 votes



  •  ​A total of 120 MPs voted in favour of the budget, 5 MPs voted against while 43 MPs abstained from voting
  • Samagi Jana Balawegaya(SJB), Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Independent group led by Dullas Alahapperuma and the independent parties led by Wimal Weerawansa abstained from voting

The interim budget presented by President, Finance Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was passed in Parliament with amendments by a majority of 115 votes yesterday.


A total of 120 MPs voted in favour of the budget, 5 MPs voted against while 43 MPs abstained from voting.
The vote was taken after NPP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake called for a division.


Samagi Jana Balawegaya(SJB), Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Independent group led by Dullas Alahapperuma and the independent parties led by Wimal Weerawansa abstained from voting.
Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and National People’s Power (NPP) voted against the budget.
