Refuting media reports that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) had spent Rs. 50 million to promote its leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on social media, the JVP said it was another bankrupt propaganda of the Government that was subject to public protests due to its failure in every sector.

The JVP said in a statement that fake news had been published on a website saying that the JVP had spent Rs. 50 million to boost the image of its leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on social media.

They said the JVP had no connection with the advertising company mentioned in the news article and that it was a fabricated story to discredit the party.

The statement further said that the news article has been fabricated using fake signatures and rubber stamps.
“This is yet another failed attempt of the Government to divert the mounting public protest against the government. We request people to come forward to defeat the politics behind this move,” the statement added.
The JVP said legal action would be taken against the false news and the forged document used for the news article.
