Journalism Awards for Excellence 2022 Daily Mirror wins Cartoonist of the year Award



Daily Mirror award winners, Kamanthi Wickramasinghe, Sajith Bandara and Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama   

Daily Mirror bagged one award and two merit awards at the 24th edition of the Journalism Awards for Excellence 2022 held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel yesterday (12).   
Daily Mirror Cartoonist Sajith Bandara was adjudged the cartoonist of the year (English) while DailyMirror.lk bagged the merit award under best news/designed website of the year.   
Head of Digital Media Operations, Lanka Pradeep and Deputy Web Editor Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama accepted the award on behalf of the Daily Mirror web team.   
In addition, Deputy Features Editor of the Daily Mirror Kamanthi Wickramasinghe won the joint merit award under the Subramaniam Chettiar Award for Reporting on Social Issues.   
Sunday Times, Daily Lankadeepa and Sunday Lankadeepa, Ada and Daily FT also bagged awards.   


Meanwhile, five senior journalists received the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award at the Journalism Awards for Excellence. They are H. L. D. Mahindapala, Seetha Ranjanee, Stanley Samarasinghe, Sinnathurai Thillainathan and Mohammed Arif Mohammed Nilam.   


The Journalism Awards for Excellence 2022 organized by the Sri Lanka Press Institute and the Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka recognized 36 winners and 16 merit recipients under print and online media categories.
