Julie Chung busy participating in fashion shows - Wimal

  • Says YouTubers and social media activists who were concerned on the issues faced by the country can only be seen at parties now

Sri Lanka would not have to face an Aragalaya anymore even though the country was facing a far more serious pressure situation even before the Aragalaya as US Ambassador Julie Chung is pleased with all that is happening in the country, National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa said.

While speaking at an event in the United Kingdom, he said that people in Sri Lanka were facing far more serious pressures now even before the Aragala and that it would be aggravated with the VAT increase next year.

“We cannot expect an Aragalaya as there is no embassy involvement now. There was an issue, queues and pressure in the society then and it was used by some. Now, Julie is happy. She is busy participating in fashion shows in Colombo. There is no way of an Aragalaya emerging in the country,” he said.   Weerawansa said YouTubers and social media activists who were concerned on the issues faced by the country can only be seen at parties now.

“The IUSF is not taking to the streets. YouTubers and social media activists are nowhere to be seen. They are dancing at parties. What matters is the agenda of Julie is in place, and not whether the people are under pressure,” he said.
