Kaduwela OIC averts planned attack by gang: Three arrested

Three suspects who arrived to carry out an attack on drug trafficker’s house were arrested last night by the Kaduwela Police following a shoot out. 

Police said the Kaduwela OIC who was returning to the police station after completing an inspection duty in the area, noticed some men in a luxury jeep parked in front of a shop in Kaduwela town, brandishing lethal weapons in their hands. 


On seeing the police car, the group turned their vehicle and sped away in the jeep they came in. Jumping out from his car, the OIC pointed the pistol at the jeep and shouted at them to stop. Then the OIC opened fire at the jeep’s wheels as they disobeyed the order. 


However, the group tried to flee albeit the gunshots were being fired. The police arrested three suspects who were in the jeep after giving chase. Police also recovered several sharp weapons from inside the vehicle. 
It was revealed that the gang was planning an attack on a drug trafficker’s house in the Kaduwela area. 
The arrested were identified as residents of Ranala, aged between 26 and 38. Investigations are underway to arrest more suspects who fled the area.
