Kuragala Rajamaha Vihara Dagoba restored

Kuragala Rajamaha Vihara Dagoba, restored under a project that lasted for more than a year was vested with the Maha Sangha on Vesak full moon Poya day on Sunday.

The Dagoba was unveiled by Army Commander Mjr. Gen. Shavendra Silva who was the chief guest at the ceremony and several others who were instrumental in implementing the project.   


Addressing the ceremony, Chief Incumbent of the temple Ven. Waturakumbure Dhammarathana Thera said the pilgrims had now the opportunity to attend religious observances at the historic Kuragala Cheithiya.   
He said tens of thousands of devotees including young men and women contributed in cash and kind and free labour to restore the Cheithiya. The Ven. Thera said any government funds was not spent for the project.
