Lanza group holds talks with Maithripala, Kumara Welgama

• Campaigning for the new political alliance has already started

The political group led by MP Nimal Lanza has initiated talks with party leaders such as former President Maithripala Sirisena and MP Kumara Welgama on the formation of a new alliance, a political source said.   
The source said discussions have been held with Ministers Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Tiran Alles and Mr. Kumara Welgama’s group.   

A special meeting to discuss the future of the new alliance was held recently at the residence of Minister Mahinda Amaraweera in Colombo.  

In the meantime, the campaigning for the new political alliance has already started. Divisional organizers have been called at the seat level, and awareness meetings about the new alliance have also started at the district level. 

The first one was held last week. More than 50 selected organizers of the 13 constituencies participated in this meeting representing the Gampaha District.    In the next few months, it is planned to meet with the organizers of all the districts and hold awareness about the relevant programme.
