The Government will definitely lose its majority in Parliament, as over 50 MPs representing the ruling party are to function independently in Parliament today (05), Former State Minister Nimal Lanza said.

He told reporters yesterday that they were going to make a special statement in Parliament today where they would urge the Government to withdraw from power and hand it over to someone from the Opposition.
“It is apparent that the Government is using various tactics to remain in power, which is not going  to work. We vehemently express our displeasure over it,” he stressed.

“That’s why we have decided to be independent in Parliament tomorrow so that majority in Government will be lost. When it loses its majority of 113, the government will have to be dissolved,” he added.

Commenting on protests being held in front of MPs’ residences, Lanza said
people’s protests are purely reasonable and they had no objection against such protests.
