The Medical experts have highlighted the importance of prohibiting large indoor gatherings in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.
According to Prof. Neelika Malavige from the Department of Immunology and Molecular Sciences of the Sri Jayewardenepura University, large indoor gatherings should be stopped right now, until a large proportion of the adult population are fully vaccinated (two weeks after the second dose).
Prof. Malavige tweeted this in response to a study that revealed that viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in respiratory aerosols emitted by COVID-19 patients while breathing, talking and singing.
The study, which has been published by Oxford University, pointed out that exposure to fine aerosols, especially indoors, should be mitigated.
