The Cyber Security Bill and the Data Protection Bill will be introduced early next year,  Minister Namal Rajapaksa told Parliament yesterday.  

Speaking during the committee stage debate on the budget, Minister Rajapaksa said cabinet nod had been received for the two legislations.  

“We will also bring in legal provisions to enable the introduction of e-Grama Sevaka project. It is time all political parties got together to introduce digitalisation. Digitalisation is what youth want today,” he said.  

Also he said a new digital national identity card will be introduced next year.
