Luxury cruise ship carrying high-end tourists arrives in Colombo



 

  • With 108 America’s richest tourists on board

The ship “Ocean Odyssey” carrying 108 of America’s richest tourists arrived at Colombo Port yesterday, a statement from the Port and Shipping Ministry said.  This ship belonging to an American company is 105 metres long and 18.5 metres wide.  

This ship arrived at Colombo port from Cochin port in India and is scheduled to sail to Trincomalee port today.  


The shipping agent company “Dave Marine” states that the tourists who came on this ship will disembark at Colombo port and travel around Colombo, Kurunegala, Habarana, Sigiriya and Trincomalee by luxury buses for about two and a half days and board the ship from Trincomalee port on the 21st.  


The “Ocean Odyssey” is scheduled to sail from Trincomalee Port to Thailand on December 21 at 7:00 PM.  


Marking the arrival of the ship for the first time at the port of Colombo, the ceremonial exchange of light took place between the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva and the captain of the ship.  


A group of officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Services, Port Authority and Shipping Agent Company participated in this event.
