The Department of Immigration and Emigration is to finalize its investigations launched to identify members of parliament who have dual citizenship.

The Department launched a special investigation last week following a request made under the Right to Information Act.

A spokesman of the department said that the relevant investigation was conducted based on a document containing the date of birth, name and national identity number of the MPs referred by the Parliament.

It was reported that Parliament has forwarded the relevant document to the Immigration and Emigration department.

The spokesman said the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration was overseas last week and had returned to Sri Lanka on Monday.

The report will be issued after the Controller General signed the document, the spokesman said.
