Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and MP Namal Rajapaksa were absent during the vote on the resolution of domestic debt restructuring as they were opposed to involving EPF in it, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harsha de Silva said yesterday.

“ I saw MP Namal Rajapaksa opposing DDR and stating that he and his father are opposed to subjecting EPF investments to debt restructuring,” he said in responding to a question at a press conference.

“We won’t be cruel to state that there is some kind of economic stability but this is only temporary,” he said.

Dr. de Silva who condemned the select committee appointed to look into Sri Lanka’s bankruptcy headed by SLPA General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam. “Majority of members in this select committee are those who are responsible for the bankruptcy. We will not be surprised if the select committee blames us for the country’s bankruptcy,” he said in this regard.
Also he questioned on the facilities given to Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. “ Mr. Rajapaksa actually fled the nation and now he is given a compound to stay. Around 200 army and policemen are protecting this compound,” he alleged.
