Mahanayake of Malwatta Chapter stressed the need to arrest criminals hiding in other countries

Mahanayake of Malwatta Chapter Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera stressed the need to work out a plan to arrest criminals and underworld gangsters hiding in other countries who are responsible for the ongoing criminal activities.   


During a meeting with Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles who visited Malwatta temple yesterday, Ven, Mahanayaka Thera pointed out that any such plan should be implemented with the help of the relevant authorities of those countries.   


The minister met the Mahanayake Theras to brief them on the ongoing “ Yukthiya Operation” after visiting the Sri Dalada Maligawa and paying homage to the Sacred Tooth relic.   
 Ven, Siddhartha Sumangala Thera commended the ongoing operation against criminals and drug traffickers and pointed out that it is intended to provide security to the entire nation and that it should be continued.   


The minister told the Mahanayake Thera that “ Yukthiya Operation” achieved several of its targets in a short period of one month. He said that he had already initiated talks with authorities in Dubai to work out a mechanism to arrest criminals who had taken refuge in that country after being involved in illegal activities.   


Later he met the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera as well.   


Senior DIG Central Province Lalith Pathinayaka and SSP Kandy Division Chamil Ratnayaka were present at the occasion.
