Makandure Madush’s associate shot dead by STF in Seeduwa

An accomplice of the deceased drug trafficker and underworld figure Makandure Madush who was linked to a number of crimes including six murders died after being shot by the Special Task Force at Seeduwa, Police said .   

Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said the STF personnel have used force while searching a vehicle following a tip off on Saturday night.  


Following the shooting, 44-year old Lalith Wasantha Pinto, who was a wanted criminal on board the vehicle sustained injuries and died soon after being admitted to the Negombo Hospital.  


It was revealed that the deceased, a resident of Seeduwa has been linked to a number of crimes and six murders in Seeduwa, Wattala, Matara, Akuressa, Katunayake and Ragama police divisions since 1991.  


SDIG Rohana said two other persons had been inside the car at the time of the shooting and a micro pistol was also found at the scene.  
The Seeduwa Police are conducting further investigations, he said.
