Man stabbed to death in Mirissa

A man had been stabbed to death while another had sustained serious wounds at Udupila junction in Mirissa and the houses of the two suspects had been torched, the Weligama Police said. An altercation between two parties on July 13 led to the stabbing.   

The two injured victims have been admitted to the Matara General Hospital and one victim has succumbed to his injuries while the other is receiving treatment.  


The deceased is identified as a father of three, a resident of Yatipila in Mirissa. The one who sustained serious wounds is a 27-year-old married person.   


The suspects have fled the area and Criminal Investigation Unit Acting OIC Sub Inspector Nandasiri, Sub Inspector Ramyasiri, Police Sergeant Lakshman are conducting the investigation to arrest them on the instructions of Weligama Police HQ Inspector D. M. Abeysekara.
