Maximum effort should be made to prevent another wave of the COVID-19 virus in the country, since we have no strength to face a similar situation as we faced during the first and second COVID waves, Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.
He said that it is not possible to go into lockdown anymore. Therefore, the responsible authorities should take tangible measures to prevent the emergence of such a wave.
“There is a considerable increase in COVID positive cases are emerging other than the cases reported daily. With the available limited testing facilities, a maximum of 150 COVID positive cases are reported daily. There has been an extraordinary increase in the number of deaths due to the COVID virus,” he said.
There is a vast spread of the new COVID-19 variant among the people. This new variety has the capability of spreading to a maximum of 12 people from one infected person, which is higher than the earlier delta variants and the variants found in China, Dr. Aluthge said. According to the new variant’s details, the number of COVID deaths may rise in tandem with the number of infected cases.
According to the details, they said that it is possible to infect the new variety by avoiding both the natural and artificial immune systems of people.
