Medical specialists raise concerns over the impending dismissal of three public health management assistants from the Health Ministry who are responsible for the handling of documents related to medical specialists, Daily Mirror learns.

According to reliable sources, the officials have been informed of their dismissal without any reasonable explanation.

The opinions of the several junior and senior specialists with whom Daily Mirror spoke suggest that this sudden decision could create further uncertainties and potentially jeopardize the confidentiality of their personal files.

They insisted that it is perplexing why these three officials have to be removed without a rational ground and alleged that the replacements could act as puppets of the existing higher-ups, enabling them to sweep issues affecting the specialists under the carpet.

They added, “Given that the trio were responsible for dealing with all specialist-related matters such as transfers and review schemes, the medical specialists are concerned that there may be ulterior motives for their sudden removal.

Hence, the Medical specialists urge the health ministry to clarify on the matter.

Sources further noted the three officials are set to be transferred to hospitals in Kandy, Kalubowila, and Nuwara Eliya.

Moreover, the trio has also called for a disciplinary inquiry to be conducted before their removal and to provide them with valid reasons for their replacement.
