Minority parties finalise common proposal for devolution

Around 12 Tamil and Muslim parties yesterday finalised a common proposal for devolution of power that would be presented to Sri Lankan, Indian governments and the international community.  

MP R. Sampanthan representing TNA, MP Mano Ganesan representing TPA,  Mavai Senathirajah representing ITAK,  C. V. Wigneswaran representing TMK, TELO President Selvam Adaikkalanathan, President DPLF Dharmalingam Siddharthan, Up-Country People’s Front President Radhakrishnan, President National Workers Federation President MP P. Digambaram, President EPRLF Suresh Premachandran, TNP President N. Srikanthan. SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem and ACMC Leader Rishad Bathiudeen have already finalised the document. 


Mr. Ganesan told the media that they have finalised the document but will sign on another day. “We were to sign the document today, but we could only finalise it. Therefore, we will sign the document on another day,” he said. 
“Our proposals will be based on the 13th amendment to the constitution. This is a proposal to devolve power in an undivided nation. We will present our proposals to the Sri Lankan, Indian governments and the international community as a whole,” he added.
