• More institutions will have to be moved out of government control in order to converted them into institutions which are more profitable

More gazette notifications similar to one which was issued on Wednesday night under which few institutions were brought under President’s purview will come in the future as more of them have to be converted to be profit making institutions, UNP MP Vajira Abeywardena said.   

“ More institutions will have to be moved out of government control and have to be converted into institutions which are more profitable. More state institutions will have to be made more efficient. They should be able to become institutions which are able to pay higher salaries, “ the MP told a press briefing. 

 
“ The Road Development Authority should be under few companies if it is to become more profitable, “ the MP said citing an example.   

He said President needs people’s support to bring about stability.” The President called for the support of all parties to come together in order to set up national policies. He needs the support of the people and he would ask for it,” he added.   “ People should not vote with anger this time and should think of future generations when casting their vote, “ he also said.   

Earlier the MP said laws will be brought to curb mind terrorism will be introduced in the future. This law will prove provisions to take action against those who are with terror motives. “ Those who led the September 11 attack carried out terror only when they got into the aircraft but did not commit any offense at the airport.. The new laws will enable the security forces to nab such persons before they commit any terror offense if they are suspected to have such motives.,” the MP said.
