More than 1000 acres of paddy cultivation in the Puttalam District has been devastated by floods and spill water from tanks and reservoirs for the last two months.
They said they looked forward to the Maha season cultivation with the monsoon rains but to their utter disappointment, the floods and spill water caused crop devastation.
They said they would be compelled to abandon paddy cultivation for want of funds in the Yala season due to heavy losses.
