Mother, daughter dies in fatal accident in Anuradhapura

• Tipper lorry driver taken into custody

A woman and her daughter had died in a fatal accident last  morning in front of Kadireshan Kovil in Jayanthi Mawatha in  Anuradhapura.   

The victims Sashika Dulani Weerasinhe (36) and K. Thisani  Priyansa (08) were residents of Samagi Mawatha in Kalaoya. The former  was a teacher of Rahula Vidyalaya in Tract 10 in Rajangana.    

Investigations revealed that they were riding on a motorcycle  towards Jayanthi Mawatha roundabout when they were knocked down by a tipper lorry running  in the same direction.   

The driver of the tipper lorry was taken into custody by  Anuradhapura Police pending further investigations. He was to be  produced in court yesterday afternoon.   

OIC Traffic Branch of Anuradhapura Police CI Senaka  Prasanna and SI Palitha Nissanka are conducting further investigations  on the instruction of HQI Anuradhapura Police CI R.M. Jayaweera.
