Mother delivers baby while in passport queue

A pregnant mother who came to  the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Colombo to get her passport, had delivered a baby last morning.  

The security forces personnel on duty had admitted the mother who complained of labour pains, to the Castle Hospital where she had delivered the baby. She is from Hatton.  


The chief security officer of the Immigration Department said the woman (26) and her husband (25) joined the queue to obtain their passports Wednesday (6) night.  Due to an exacerbation of labour pains last morning, the woman was rushed to the hospital by the Army who are on security mission at the department.  According to the hospital sources, the baby girl and the mother are sound and healthy.
