Mother on stage to receive dead son’s degree certificate

It was an emotional moment for all those attending the  convocation of the Jaffna University on Thursday (20) when the mother  appeared on the stage to receive the degree certificate of her son who  had died in an accident.   
A final year student of the Vavuniya faculty of the Jaffna  University Disanayaka Mudiyanselage Hasan Sagara Dissanayake had  appeared for the degree examination in Applied Maths and Computer  Science before he died in a motorcycle accident at Medawachchiya area.   

She broke into tears and stepped onto the stage to receive  her son’s degree certificate when Vice Chancellor Prof. Sri  Sathgunarajah invited her to come and receive it.   Chancellor C. Pathmanathan presided over the convocation.   The fellow students of Hasan Sagara helped her back to the audience after receiving the certificate.
