Mullaithivu mass grave

Further excavtions in Kokkuthuduvai mass grave has been suspended untill further court order.  Professor in Archrology Raj Somadewa in charge of the excavation team said step would be taken to submit to court a report on evidence and other material found during the excavations carry out further excavations on court order.  


Prof. Somadewa said omplete skeletons of 17 bodies and skeletal remains of several other bodies had been recovered during excavations. He said badges containing the number of LTTE cadres, cynide capsules and several uniforms were among the finds.  


Meanwhile the archaeological officials engaging in excavations were of opinion that it was a clear indication that the bodies had been buried as a mass. 


The skeletal remains have been placed in a room of Mullaithivu General Hospital under security.


Excavations had been carried out under the supervision of Mullaithivu Magistrate T.Pradeepan.
