• Says public should not get misled by unwanted remarks made against the party

Former President and Leader of the SLPP, Mahinda Rajapaksa said that his extended family members had nothing to do with the SLPP nor were they part of any political decisions and the public should not get misled by unwanted remarks made against the party.

Following Rajapaksa’s extended family members making statements on the internal matters of the party, Rajapaksa said that political decisions would be conveyed to the public only through party seniors and not extended family members.

“We are not responsible for any of my relative’s comments, and it is unfair to go interview them,” Rajapaksa said.
“I urge the public not to get misled by unwanted comments,” he added.

On the economic front, Rajapaksa said that his party was against the high taxes being imposed on the public and said his party would continue to work towards providing relief to the people.
