A woman carried a child dozing off during the demonstration organised in front of the Bangladeshi High Commission in Colombo by the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) in solidarity with Bangladeshi university students protesting the controversial job quota system introduced in that country. The demonstration had been organised to protest what it called ‘violent suppression of students’. Bangladesh’s top court scaled back a controversial job-quota system in a partial victory for student protesters after a week of deadly demonstrations.
