Police will conduct special operations across the country during the weekend to apprehend those who host parties and events violating quarantine laws, police said. 

Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said, activities in places such as cinemas, pubs, clubs, gymnasiums and other places where the public gather are also strictly prohibited as per health guidelines issued by the Director General of Health Services.  

He said the general public should adhere to health guidelines and that the officers-in-charge of all police stations are ordered to conduct operations to ensure that quarantine rules and regulations are strictly adhered to.
They have also been told to gather information through the Police Intelligence Unit, he said.  The spokesman urged people to remain in their homes.
