A new land area has been selected at Irakkamam in the Ampara District of the Eastern Province for the burial of COVID victims, Medical Technical Services Director Dr. Anwar Hamdani said.

Meanwhile, the Ampara District Secretary has informed that the land is a suitable place for burying bodies of COVID victims and the technical committee would be taking steps to make the necessary recommendations, Dr. Hamdani said. He said that the Ottamawadi cemetery in the Batticaloa district where COVID bodies are being buried is nearing completion and only about 300 bodies can be buried at the site.
