The Constitutional Council (CC) is yet to receive any name to be considered for the appointment of the next Inspector General of Police (IGP) post, an official said.
The IGP post fell vacant after the service extension granted to Mr. C.D. Wickramaratne expired on Monday.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is required to recommend a name to be approved by the CC Council. However, the president is authorized to grant a service extension to the outgoing IGP if he so wishes without the CC approval.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena who chairs the CC by virtue of his office told Daily Mirror that no name had been received yet.
