The first phase of Russia’s Sputnik-V vaccine inoculation which began at Gothatuwa in the Colombo District on Thursday, received no complications, Gothatuwa Administrative Public Health Inspector (PHI) Nalin Fonseka said yesterday.
He told the media that around 670 vaccines were given on Thursday (6) for people aged between 30 and 60 and they were the first to receive the vaccine.
Sri Lanka began rolling out SputnikV vaccines for COVID-19 developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Russia from Thursday (6).
Arrangements are being made to provide 1,200 vaccines at the Rahula College in Mulleriyawa today and to administer 14,000 doses of this new vaccine to the public within the next 10 days at the Grama Niladhari Division in Gothatuwa.
