No inter-provincial transport this week too: Dilum

  • Decision expected from the Army chief next week with regards to the resumption of inter provincial public transport

By Chaturanga Samarawickrama

There will be no inter-provincial transport services even in this week too owing to the recent Covid-19 travel guidelines, Transport State Minister Dilum Amunugama said.

He said the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Task Force has not recommended resuming public transport service in this situation.
“However, it has been reported that there are not enough buses and trains to operate in the provinces for the use of essential service workers. Therefore, we decided to assign more buses and trains within the provinces,” the State Minister said.

The State Minister is expecting a concrete decision from the Army chief next week with regards to the resumption of public transport services across the provinces.
