The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) was able to provide uninterrupted power supply since yesterday after receiving adequate fuel supply for power generation, CEB Additional General Manager and media spokesman Andrew Navamani said.
He said 1,800 metric tons of fuel was received by the thermal power plants of the Kelanitissa Power Station, which started at 11.30 pm Wednesday night and continued until 5.30 am last morning.
Later, the 115 MW power generator of the Kelanitissa Power Station was restarted last morning. Meanwhile, the second power generator of the Kelanitissa Power Station was started on Wednesday evening after receiving sufficient furnace oil stocks. The electricity generation was started up to 80 megawatts by yesterday, he said.
“500 metric tons of furnace oil was received at the Sapugaskanda thermal power station yesterday,” he said. Therefore the CEB decided to provide a continuous power supply from yesterday, he said.
