• We are not willing to flock together with those who are responsible for the economic downturn

Voicing their opinion on the recent cross over of some MPs to Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), two members of Parliament from the party Dr. Harsha de Silva and Eran Wickramaratne yesterday said those who are responsible for the economic debacle will not be welcomed to their party.   

“We are not willing to flock together with those who are responsible for the economic downturn,” MP Eran Wickramaratne said.   

He was referring to questions raised by journalists on recent crossover to the SJB fold at a press briefing.   

“Those who want to join us should be clean and should be prepared to accept our economic policies,” Dr. de Silva said.  Also Dr. de Silva welcomed the appointment of Justice Neil Iddawela as the head of Bribery Commission. “We welcome the appointment of Justice Iddawela as he is an able officer. However we feel that the government should establish an independent prosecutor’s office soon,” he said.   

Meanwhile it was reported earlier that SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa had stressed that those who join the SJB will not be given ministerial portfolios in a future SJB government.
