The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved the request made by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to have rotational power shedding for over seven hours today despite an earlier statement saying there would be no power cuts from March 5. The PUCSL granted permission for a seven and a half hour power cut (5 hours between 8am and 6pm and 2 and a half hours between 6pm and 11pm) for today for areas E and F while a three hour power cut (2 hours between 9am and 5pm and one hour between 5pm and 9pm) for areas P,Q,R,S,T,U,V and W.
However, during a meeting with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last week, officials of the Ministries of Power and Energy said that there would be no power cuts from March 5.
