PM appoints committee to overcome shortages of essential items

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a committee to overcome the shortages of essential items. According to the Prime Minister’s media unit, the Prime Minister has appointed Vajira Abeywardene to converse with the relevant officials and to see that essential food is available, while UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene has been appointed to look into the shortage of medicine.

UNP Assistant Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has been appointed to look into  the fertiliser issue. UNP National Organiser Sagala Ratnayake  has been given the task to look into issues pertaining to fuel.


This committee will be responsible for identifying issues in each sector and to report to the Prime Minister. They have been given the task of talking to the relevant officials.
